LFW SUMMER/RESORT 2014 SNEAK PEAK: Digvijay Singh’s Collection LUDO & LADDERS
Dynamic and zestful designer Digvijay Singh with a taste of cultural influences and the classical eras of our country is celebrating fashion once again with a dash of nostalgia. This Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2014, he unveils a stunning and surprising collection christened, LUDO & LADDERS.
This collection is a reminiscence, a muse, a nostalgic voyage. As Indians, we have all played Snakes & Ladders and Ludo and some of us have innumerable memories attached with it. This is an ode to celebrate the twin games that now seem lost in the deluge of digitalization.
The games are not just admired for the fun but also for their striking graphic compositions and robust colour palette that reflects an innate Indian sensibility. The collection is an interesting reflection of the games in garments and ensembles, not just superficially but in character. The collection offers quirkiness, novelty and most importantly- a slice of childhood.
The designer has played with bold, primary colors, reminiscent of the board games. Silks, cottons, chiffons, rayon and viscose blends have been used for the ensembles. The silhouettes offer a mix of Indian & western in menswear & womenswear. Interesting color blocking explorations should be one of the highlights of the collection. The garments have been embellished with prints and hand embroideries, accessorised with handmade jewellery and shoes.
On this occasion, designer Digvijay Singh excitedly says, “Like every season, I am delighted to be a part of this season too. This time the collection is quite a nostalgic trip and unique in its own way. I have strived to balance the traditional with a certain amount of quirkiness. Hope the affair turns out to a great medley of creativity and nostalgia.”
The cuts and fits of the designer are innovative and in absolute artistic harmony with playful colours and delightful details. High on the fun quotient and yet offering an emotional connect.
Now this is one collection I am super excited to see on the ramp!
